Cùil Mìn / Kildysart defeated Clondegad in the first round of the U – 16 A Division 1 Championship on a score of 0 – 12 to 1 – 04 This was a close fought encounter between the two neighbouring teams. The early exchanges were tense as both sides looked to gain an advantage. The first score came in the 12th minute with a well taken goal by Donal McCarthy of Clondegad. The Cùil Mìn / Kildysart team took control in the second quarter with points from Darragh Cleary, Alan Normoyle (f), Seamus Casey, Barry Crehan & Luke McGrath. They also squandered numerous scoring chances in this period as well. Clondegad finished the half with a point from Conor Lynch to leave the sides level at the break. Half Time: Cùil Mìn / Kildysart 0 - 05 Clondegad 1 - 02 Cùil Mìn / Kildysart started the second half in great fashion with points from Sean Wallace & Barry Crehan (f). Clondegad responded with a pointed free from the excellent Conor Lynch. The game was now in the melting pot as both teams strived for victory. Points from Luke McGrath & Barry Crehan from a free extended the Cùil Mìn / Kildysart lead to 3 points. Clondegad again responded with a pointed free from Conor Lynch to reduce the margin. The closing stages were tense & exciting but points from Mark Meaney, Alan Normoyle (f) & Captain Darragh Cleary sealed the victory for the Cùil Mìn / Kildysart combination.
