Cúil Mín defeated Ballyvaughan in the Junior A Championship play-off on a score of 2 – 10 to 2 – 06. This was a close hard fought game between two evenly matched sides. Ballyvaughan started brightly with a goal but Cúil Mín got back into the game with some excellent play.

A goal by Noel Meaney drew the sides level. Cúil Mín dominated the rest of the half with points from Cathal O'Connor 0-2(1f), Kevin “Val” McMahon 0-1(f), Noel Meaney 0-1, Joe Corry 0-1 & Brian Markham 0-1 to leave half time score Cúil Mín 1 – 06 to Ballyvaughan 1 – 04.

Cúil Mín started the second half in blistering fashion with a flurry of scores, the highlight being an opportunistic goal by ace poacher Alan Marrinan. Kevin “Val” McMahon scored 3 points in this period. A heavy drizzle throughout the second half made it impossible to play good football.

As Ballyvaughan mounted a comeback, Kevin Corry scored an excellent point from the wing. Ballyvaughan scored a late consolation goal but Cúil Mín fully deserved our victory.

Cúil Mín now qualify for the Munster Junior Club Championship
