Coolmeen v Kilfenora (Div 3)

Cùil Mìn defeated Kilfenora in the Division 3 Football League on a score of 0 – 12 to 1 – 07. This was a close hard fought encounter throughout. Cùil Mìn started brightly with a pointed free from Kevin Corry. After some excellent approach work Eoin O’Connor & Noel Meaney scored a point each. With the Cùil Mìn defence on top Kilfenora found it hard to score. Two pointed frees from Kevin (Val) McMahon extended the lead. Noel Meaney drove a rasper over the bar for an excellent point. At this stage Kilfenora came into the game with Killian Malone scoring two points & Cian O’Dea one point to reduce the margin. However Cùil Mìn steadied the ship with points from David Neenan & Cathal O’Connor just before half time.

Kilfenora started the second half with two pointed frees from Killian Malone. Cùil Mìn responded with a pointed free from Kevin (Val) McMahon and a point from play by Cian Murphy. Kilfenora scored another point from play before Kevin Corry & Gary Meaney scored two points for Cùil Mìn. In the closing stages Kilfenora went looking for goals but the Cùil Mìn defence held firm. In injury time Kilfenora scored a point & in the last action of the game Killian Malone converted a penalty to reduce the margin to two points. The referee blew the final whistle on the kickout.
