Coolmeen v Meelick (Junior A C'ship)

Cúil Mín defeated Meelick in the quarter-final of the Junior A Football Championship on a score of 1 – 14 to 2 – 03. 

Meelick started this game in whirlwind fashion with a goal in the very first minute. Cúil Mín regained their composure and with Thomas Coffey showing well up front, they responded with points from Alan Marrinan and Kevin Corry. The move of the game saw Cathal O’Connor tear through the heart of the Meelick defence and drive the ball to the net to give Cúil Mín the lead which they held for the rest of the game. 

Cúil Mín dominated the remainder of the half and further points from Kevin “Val” McMahon, Cathal O’Connor, Kevin Corry and Alan Marrinan left the halftime score: Cúil Mín 1 – 06 Meelick 1 – 01.
Meelick started the second period in determined fashion and scored two points to reduce the lead. Cúil Mín responded with scores from Brian Markham and Michèal Brooks to restore their advantage. Two pointed frees from Kevin “Val” McMahon extended our lead. With our defence well on top and midfield dominating possession Cùil Mìn got further scores from Cathal O’Connor, Aaron Kelly, Thomas Coffey and Kevin Corry to confirm their victory. 

Meelick scored a consolation goal in injury time but Cúil Mín fully deserved their victory.
