26/08/2015:  Coolmeen/Kildysart Minors face Estuary neighbours Clondegad in a Division 1 semi-final showdown after hanging on and beating Miltown 1-13 to 1-10 in the quarterfinal this evening.

The match was played in changeable windy conditions which didn’t favour either side. St. Josephs Miltown Malbay were quick on the board with a point and a goal in the opening minutes but didn’t score again until right before the half.  Seamus Casey started the amalgamation attack and this was followed by 2 points from Ben Cleary and the levelling point coming from the boot of Sean Wallace.  Corner back Conor Donnellan was responsible for 2 points sandwiched between points from Seamus Casey and Barry Crehan, bringing the score to Coolmeen/Kildysart 8 points, St. Josephs Miltown Malbay 1-1 with 5 minutes remaining in the half.  The sides swapped points and then Luke McGrath’s goal gave Coolmeen/Kildysart an 8 point lead at the break:

Half time score Coolmeen/Kildysart 1-10, St. Josephs Miltown Malbay 1-2.

St. Joseph's Miltown Malbay were attacking more in the second half and added three points in the first ten minutes.  Coolmeen/Kildysart countered these with points from Barry Crehan and Cian Murphy and commanded a 7 point lead heading into the final quarter.  It turns out Cian’s point would be the last for the amalgamation in normal time, while St. Josephs Miltown Malbay were steadily adding to their tally.  By the end of normal time, St. Josephs Miltown Malbay reduced the deficit to 2 and were on the prowl for a game winning goal.  Coolmeen/Kildysart defended well and were rewarded with an injury time insurance point from Ben Cleary.

Final score Coolmeen/Kildysart 1-13, St. Jpsephs Miltown Malbay 1-10.
